After any adjustment to the NLC box, the system briefly pauses to apply the new settings, and then resumes
acquisition.
NLC Gain
The contrast gain is the strength of the ultrasound signal in dB when it returns to the face of the transducer.
Nonlinear Contrast Mode gain is indicated with the NLC on the slider.
To adjust the gain, tap and drag the slider left or right.
Move the slider to the right to add gain and brighten the mode data.

Move the slider to the left to reduce gain and darken the mode data.

Switch Between B-Mode Gain and NLC Mode Gain
To switch to B-Mode gain, tap the B-Mode image. The NLC mode box will become gray and the NLC gain
slider will switch to the B-Mode gain slider.
Nonlinear Contrast Mode Acquisition Workflow
Before You Begin
Set up all parts needed for physiological data acquisition (such as the animal monitoring system)

Prepare the animal on the animal platform

Set up blood pressure monitoring

Ensure the system is using a transducer that is compatible with Nonlinear Contrast Mode. For more

information, refer to Transducer Compatibility Chart on page 418.
To Acquire an Image
1. Tap Nonlinear Contrast.
The Nonlinear Contrast Mode box appears on the image area on the control panel.
The B-Mode image area and the Nonlinear Contrast Mode data window appear side by side on the
Image Display by default. This layout can be changed with the Display Layout control.
2. Position the Nonlinear Contrast Mode box as needed by dragging it on the control panel.
