PGM-FI System
MIL Circuit Troubleshooting (cont'd)
28. Disconnect each of the components or connectors
below, one at a t i m e , and check for continuity
between PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) 4P
connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
• PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP)
• PCM connector A (31P)
• Each injector 2P connector
• Camshaft position (CMP) sensor 3P connector
• Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor A/B 6P
connector
• A/F sensor relay 4P connector

30. Check for continuity between PGM-FI main relay 1
(Fl MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 2 and body
g r o u n d .

continuity?
YES—Repair short in the w i r e between PGM-FI
main relay 1 (F! MAIN) and each item. Also replace
the No. 8 Fl ECU (PCM) (15 A) f u s e . B
N O - R e p l a c e PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN). Also
replace the No. 8 Fl ECU (PCM) (15 A) f u s e . B
3 1 . Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
YES—Replace the c o m p o n e n t that made the short
to body ground go away w h e n disconnected. If the
item is the PCM, update the PCM if it does not have
the latest software, or substitute a known-good
PCM (see page 11-6), then recheck. If the s y m p t o m /
indication goes away w i t h a k n o w n - g o o d PCM,
replace the original PCM (see page 11-219). Also
replace the No. 8 Fl ECU (PCM) (15 A) f u s e . H
N O — G o t o step 29.
29. Disconnect the connectors of these components:
• PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP)
• PCM connector A (31P)
• Injectors
• Camshaft position (CMP) sensor
• Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor A/B
• A/F sensor relay
