H3C S7500 Series Ethernet Switches
the system drops the packets exceeding the traffic limit to reduce the traffic ratio of this
type to the reasonable range, so as to keep normal network service.
Follow these steps to configure broadcast/multicast suppression:
Enter system view
Enter Ethernet port
view
Limit broadcast traffic
received on the current
port
Limit multicast traffic
received on the current
port
Note:
Broadcast suppression is set in different ways for different LPUs of the S7500 series
switches: For type-A LPUs, broadcast suppression must be set in VLAN view; for
non-type-A LPUs, broadcast suppression must be set in Ethernet port view.
Type-A LPUs include LS81FT48A, LS81FM24A, LS81FS24A, LS81GB8UA, and
LS81GT8UA.

1.1.3 Enabling Flow Control on a Port

When flow control is enabled on both the local and peer switches, if congestion occurs
on the local switch:
The local switch sends a message to notice the peer switch to stop sending
packets to the local switch or reduce the packet sending speed temporarily.
The peer switch will stop sending packets to the local switch or reduce the sending
speed when it receives the message. In this way, packet loss is avoided and the
network service operates normally.
