hostname
To specify or modify the hostname for the router, use the hostname command in global configuration
mode.

Usage Guidelines
To use this command, you must be in a user group associated with a task group that includes the proper
task IDs.
The hostname is used in prompts and default configuration filenames.
No blank or space characters are permitted as part of a name. Do not expect case to be preserved.
Uppercase and lowercase characters look the same to many Internet software applications. It may seem
appropriate to capitalize a name the same way you might do in English, but conventions dictate that
computer names appear all lowercase. For more information, see RFC 1178, Choosing a Name for Your
Computer.
