description (interface)
To add a description to an interface configuration, use the description command in interface
configuration mode. To remove the description, use the no form of this command.

Usage Guidelines To use this command, you must be in a user group associated with a task group that includes the proper
task IDs.
Use the description command to add a description to an interface configuration. The maximum number
of characters is 1022.

The following example shows how to add a description to an interface configuration. In this example,
the description command names a Management Ethernet interface.
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router# configure
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router(config)# interface mgmteth 0/rp1/cpu0/0
