7-2. Sequence of Downloading Firmware Data
1. The SNALL fi rmware data package in the USB memory device is saved to the hard disk (HDD) in the
controller PCB unit, but scanner-related fi rmware (8) and (9) is managed by the scanner itself.
2. Downloading of fi rmware in the fi rmware data package related to the controller (PMS-(1)) and control panel
(78KO-(6)) is controlled by the controller PCB.
3. Firmware related to the engine and fi nisher is sent via memory to the FPGA of the image processing PCB,
and from the FPGA to the CPU (SH2A) of the engine control PCB.
4. The following fi rmware is downloaded under control of the CPU (SH2A), as shown in the above fi gure.

5. Finisher fi rmware (7) is sent from SH2A to the fi nisher via the option PCB, and from this point, downloaded
by the fi nisher.
7-3. Cautions in Downloading Firmware Data
1. The USB memory stick should contain only one version of SNALL fi rmware package data and nothing else.
1) Never mix other version SNALL fi rmware package data in the same USB memory stick.
2) Never mix other machine fi rmware package data in the same USB memory stick, especially the HC
fi rmware, as the machine cannot distinguish the ComColor fi rmware from the HC fi rmware.
2. Never turn OFF the machine power while the machine fi rmware is being downloaded on the machine.
3. The SNALL fi rmware is a TGZ fi le. If the TGZ fi le is compressed to ZIP or any other different fi le name, the
fi rmware will not download on the machine nor will it download if the TGZ fi le is extracted. The SNALL data
fi le must have the .tgz extension fi le name.
