Inspect t h e date code (D) on t h e connector
e n d of the regulator.

(23rd day of 1987)
If the date code (first three digits of second line)
is 020, 041 or any number between 020 and 041,
the regulator must be replaced. If the date code
is outside of these limits, the regulator does not
have to be replaced.
5. Connect the electrical connector and install
the
regulator
using mounting screws
previously removed.

Place a daub of white paint on the regulator
case so that it can be seen in the installed
position.
NOTE:
The regulator has already been preset
during its manufacture.

Road test the vehicle to confirm proper
operation of the new regulator.
a. Move the slide button of the control
switch to the ON position. Drive at 45
mph (72 km/h). Press and release the
SET/COAST button, then remove foot
from the accelerator pedal.
(1) The controlled speed should sta;
within 2 mph (3 km/h) of the "Se
Speed". This is controlled by the
CENTERING ADJ.
(2) The road speed should not fluctuate
more than 2 mph (3 km/h). This k
controlled by the SENSITIVITY ADJ
b. Slow the vehicle to 15 mph (24 km/h).
c.
Press slide button of control switch to
RESUME/ACCEL position and hold it
there as you gradually increase speed.
When the vehicle suddenly speeds up
and the accelerator pedal gives way,
glance at the speedometer and release
the slide button.
d. Tap the brake pedal to disengage the
system.
e. The speed at which the system took con-
trol is the "Low Speed Setting". If it is
NOT between 27 and 33 mph (43 and 53
km/h), it should be corrected. This is con-
trolled by the LOW S P E E D SW. ADJ.
8.
If necessary adjust the regulator as described
in Regulator Adjustment.
REGULATOR ADJUSTMENT
Low Speed Switch (Engagement) Adjustment
On one side of the regulator there are two holes.
Insert a small screwdriver in the one marked
LOW S P E E D SW. ADJ.
1. If the "Low Speed Setting" was too fast, turn
the
LOW S P E E D
SW. ADJ. counter-
clockwise. If the setting was too slow, turn
the LOW S P E E D SW. ADJ. clockwise.
2. Repeat the test and adjustment sequence
until the "Low Speed Setting" is 27-33 mph
(43-53 km/h).

The CENTERING A D J . is next to the LOW
S P E E D SW. ADJ,
