T.C. 231 TRANSFER CASE
OVERHAUL

Install a replacement rear retainer s n a p ring
(40). Lift the mainshaft slightly to seat the s n a p
ring in the shaft groove.

R e p l a c e the extension housing bushing a s
follows:
• R e m o v e the rear extension housing seal if not
removed previously.
• R e m o v e the b u s h i n g with driver h a n d l e
J - 8 0 9 2 and tool J-33839.

> Install the replacement bushing with driver
handle J - 8 0 9 2 and tool J - 3 3 8 2 6 . T h e bushing
is fully seated when the installer tool contacts
the housing.
