Remove the differential case from the axle shaft
and remove the ring gear with a brass drift and
hammer.
Remount the differential case on the axle shaft
(A).
Remove the pinion snap rings from the pinion
shaft (1) with two screwdrivers (C). Position the
screwdriver blades against the snap ring ends
and push the snap rings off the shaft.

Remove the pinion shaft (1) from the case with
a brass drift and hammer.
Install step plate tool J 23781-7 in the bottom
side gear (7).

Coat the centering hole in the step plate to<
with grease.
Position rotating tool J 23781-3 on the ste
plate tool.

Coat the threads of forcing screw J 8646-2 witl
oil.
