L o o s e n the reverse gear nut (5) with tool B.V.I.
F M . 22 or a suitable s i z e wrench.
N O T E : U s e a suitable size 12-point socket or
s p a r e y o k e to h o l d t h e m a i n s h a f t w h i l e
loosening the nut.
R e m o v e the front mounting studs (36) from the
front c a s e with a stud remover or two nuts (E) a s
shown.

R e m o v e the oil s e a l (35) from the front bearing
retainer (34). Discard the s e a l .
R e m o v e the bolts attaching the two halves of the
front c a s e . Lift the right c a s e half (82) up and off
the gear a s s e m b l i e s and left c a s e half.
R e m o v e the front bearing retainer (34) and the
preload s h i m s (33) from the front c a s e . T a g the
shims for a s s e m b l y reference.
