W h e n c h e c k i n g for an ©ii leak, verify the color
of the additive u s e d by removing the dipstick
a n d o b s e r v i n g the oil u n d e r the b l a c k lamp.
1. Add one ounce of oil leak detection additive to
the system that is suspected to be leaking,
(engine oil, transmission, etc.), if necessary.
2. Start and run the engine until it r e a c h e s
operating temperature to allow the additive to
circulate throughout the system. Detecting
extremely small leaks may. require running
the engine for a longer period of time.
3. Plug the black lamp into an electrical outlet
and turn the switch to the ON position. When
it is ready to use, it will glow.
4 Raise the vehicle.
5. Aim the black lamp at the a r e a s that are
suspected of leaking and look for a bright
greenish-yellow glow at the leak origin.
