Cluster Gear Bearing Preload Adjustment

Install the alignment dowels
(H)
in the left half of
the front c a s e if not installed previously.
Install the front bearing (38), but not the preload
s h i m on the cluster gear. U s e an arbor press and
tool B.V.I. F M . 15 to press the bearing all the way
onto the shaft.
N O T E : Do not install the preload shim (39)
between the gear and bearing at this time. T h e
shim t h i c k n e s s required for correct bearing
p r e l o a d will b e e s t a b l i s h e d l a t e r in t h e
adjustment procedure.
