POWER STEERING GEAR
Push the spool valve (21) through the valve
body (23) until the spool valve is flush with the
notched end of the valve body. Be sure the
locating pin hole (C) in the valve spool is visible.
Start the stub shaft (17) into the spool valve.
Align the stub shaft locating pin (B) with the
spool valve locating hole (C) and seat the shaft
in the spool valve.

Align the notch (E) in the stub shaft cap (17) with
locating pin (B) and push the spool valve and
stub shaft into the valve body (23).
CAUTION: Make sure the shaft cap notch (E) is
mated with Jhe valve body pin before installing
the valve body in the gear housing.
Lubricate the stub shaft cap-to-wormshaft O-
ring (24) with power steering fluid and install it in
the valve body.
Rail Piston-Wirmshaft Assembly
Lubricate the rack piston-wormshaft com-
ponents with power steering fluid.
Install the backup O-ring (29) in the rack piston
groove. Do not allow the O-ring to become
twisted during installation.
Install the piston ring (30) over the backup
O-ring.
Insert the wormshaft (16) into the rack piston (3).
