GENERAL INFORMATION
DESCRIPTION
T h e Model B A 10/5 is a 5-speed, synchromesh
manual transmission. Fifth gear is an 0.72:1
ratio overdrive range. All forward gear ranges
feature synchronizer controlled engagement.
T h e transmission geartrain is contained in three
c a s e sections. T h e input shaft (1), cluster gear
(14) and the first through fourth gear assemblies
are located in the front c a s e (15). The fifth-
r e v e r s e g e a r a s s e m b l i e s are located in the
intermediate c a s e (16) and rear c a s e (17). T h e
mainshaft (9) is supported by a pilot bearing (2)
and by roller bearings in the front and rear c a s e .
T h e shift forks, rails and detent components are
in the front c a s e . T h e gear shift lever is mounted
in the intermediate c a s e .
