Initial Adjustment - Brake Drums Installed
Raise the vehicle.
Remove the access slot covers from the rear of
the support plates.
Unseat the adjuster lever (C) from the adjuster
screw (D) with a thin blade screwdriver (E) or
length of welding rod. Insert the screwdriver (E)
through the access slot and hold the lever away
from the screw.
Turn the adjuster screw with a brake tool (F)
until the wheel cannot be rotated. Then back off
the adjuster screw until the wheel rotates freely.
Install the access slot covers and lower the
vehicle.

Proceed to Final Adjustment.
Final Adjustment
Complete rear brakeshoe adjustment by mak-
ing 10-15 firm brake stops while moving in Re-
verse gear.
Make one forward stop after each reverse stop
to equalize adjustment.
Stop the vehicle completely after each brake
application.
REAR WHEEL CYLINDER REMOVAL
Raise the vehicle and remove the rear wheels.
Remove the rear brakeshoes.
Disconnect the brakeline at the wheel cylinder.
Remove the bolts (1) attaching the wheel cylin-
der (2) to the support plate (3) and remove the
cylinder.
