STEERING AND FRONT AXLE
MANUAL STEERING GEAR
Tighten the worm bearing preload adjuster
locknut to 68 N-m (50 ft-lbs) and tighten the drag
torque adjusting screw locknut to 34 N-m
(25 ft-lbs).
Align and connect the pitman arm to the shaft.
I n s t a l l a n d tighten the pitman nut to
specifications.
Stake the pitman nut to the shaft in two places.
C A U T I O N : The pitman arm nut must be
securely staked to the sector shaft for proper
retention.
Install the front stabilizer bar, remove the
supports and lower the vehicle.
Install the horn button cover.
