Wide-Open Throttle (WOT) Switch
T h e W O T switch is attached to the side of the
throttle body.
T h e switch provides an input to the E C U that
indicates a wide-open-throttle condition exists.
T h e E C U , in turn, enriches the air/fuel mixture.

A/C Controls
T h e A / C inputs indicate to the E C U that the A / C
switch is in the O N position a n d w h e n the
compressor clutch must be engaged to lower
the temperature.
T h e E C U c h a n g e s the e n g i n e idle s p e e d
according to the A / C compressor operation.
Transmission Gear Position Indicator
(Automatic Transmission)
This device provides an input to the E C U that
indicates the automatic transaxle is in a driving
mode and not in Park or Neutral. Refer to the
T . A . M... for t e s t i n g a n d r e p l a c e m e n t
information.
Power Steering Pressure Switch 2.46L Engine
A pressure sensing switch is included in the
power steering system u s e d on 1986-1987 J e e p
W a g o n e e r / C h e r o k e e / C o m a n c h e with a 2.46L
engine. T h e switch i n c r e a s e s the idle s p e e d
during periods of high pump load and low engine
R P M ; s u c h a s during parking maneuvers.
Input signals from the pressure switch to the
E C U are routed through the A / C request and
A / C select input circuits. W h e n pump pressure
e x c e e d s 1896 k P a ± 172 k P a (275 ± 2 5 P S I ) ,
the switch contacts close transmitting an input
signal to the E C U . T h e E C U raises engine idle
s p e e d immediately after receiving the pressure
switch input signal.
Throttle Position Potentiometer 1.4L/1JL
Automatic Transmission
T h e throttle position potentiometer is a simple
potentiometer which provides variable voltage
based on throttle position.
