Hydraulic Pressure Test Procedure
Before testing, check and adjust the fluid level
and linkage.
Connect a tachometer to the engine.
Raise the vehicle on a hoist that will allow the
wheels to rotate freely.
Connect the test gauge hoses to the appropri-
ate pressure ports.
Test One
Test one checks pump output, pressure regula-
tor valve operation, front/rear clutch and oil fil-
ter condition. It measures transmission operat-
ing pressure at the accumulator and front servo
pressure ports in D range.
Turn the test gauge selector handle to line pres-
sure position.
Start and operate the engine at idle speed.
Move the gearshift lever to D range and note
line pressure. Pressure should be 372 to 414
kPa (54 to 60 psi).
Increase engine rpm to 1600 and slowly move
the valve body throttle lever fully forward, then
fully rearward. With the throttle lever in the for-
ward position, pressure should be 372 to 414
kPa (54 to 60 psi) and gradually increase to 648
kPa (94 psi) as the lever is moved rearward.
Turn the test gauge selector to front servo ap-
ply position.
Operate the engine at 1000 rpm. Allow the
transmission to upshift into third gear and note
servo pressure. Pressure should not vary from
previous line pressure by more than 21 kPa (3
psi).
Slowly move the throttle linkage to full throttle
position and note servo pressure prior to and
after transmission downshift. Servo pressure
