This notice i s being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the
National T r a f f i c and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
I t has been determined by Jeep Corporation that a defect which r e l a t e s to
motor vehicle safety may e x i s t in certain 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, J-10
Truck, Wagoneer, Cherokee, Comncbe and Wrangler models equipped with the
cruise control option. A 1imited number of these v e h i c l e s may have been b u i l t
with a cruise control regulator that reacts i n c o n s i s t e n t l y when the system i s
in the O N position.
To avoid possible vehicle crash, operate the v e h i c l e with the c r u i s e control
switch in the OFF position only.
Please contact your Jeep dealer immediately to have your veh i c l e inspected and
or serviced, i f necessary. The dealer's s e r v i c e wil 1 usually take no more
than one hour and wil1 be performed at no charge to you.
Please present t h i s l e t t e r to your dealer when you take your vehicle in for
this s e r v i c e . I f you no longer own the vehicle i d e n t i f i e d on the form or you
have moved, please complete the pre-addressed, postage paid Change of
Information postcard enclosed, and return i t so we can update our records
accordingly.
If your
dealer does not perform t h i s s e r v i c e on your mutually arranged
appointment date or within f i v e days thereafter or f r e e of charge, please
contact the local Regional Office (1isted i n the Warranty and Maintenance
