SUSPENSION
SUSPENSION COMPONENT SERVICE
Remove one or both rear wheels as necessary.
Raise the rear axle enough to relieve the rear
springs of axle weight.
Disconnect the rear shock at the axle bracket.
Remove the U-bolt nuts (1) and remove the U-
bolts (2) and the spring tie plate (3).
Remove the bolts attaching the rear spring (4)
to the shackle and frame bracket.
Remove the spring.

Rear Spring Installation
Position the spring in the shackle and frame
bracket.
Install but do not tighten the bolts that attach
the spring to the shackle and frame bracket.
Align the rear spring center bolt with the locat-
ing hole in the rear axle.
Lower the rear axle until it it fully supported by
the spring.
NOTE: Be sure the spring center bolt is seated
in the axle locating hole. Realign the center bolt
and locating hole if necessary.
Install the tie plate (3), U-bolts (2) and U-bolt
nuts (1).
Tighten the U-bolt nuts to 122 N*m (90 ft-lbs)
torque.
Connect the shock absorber to the axle brack-
et. Tighten the shock retaining nut to 60 N-m (44
ft-lbs) torque.
Install the wheels. Tighten the wheel nuts to 102
N«m (75 ft-lbs) torque.
Remove all supports and lower the vehicle.
Tighten the rear spring shackle bolt to 129 N«m
(95 ft-lbs) torque.
Tighten the rear spring eye-to-frame bracket
bolt to 142 N*m (105 ft-lbs) torque.
SPRING BUSHING REPLACEMENT
The front and rear spring eye bushings are ser-
viceable components.
Special tools are not required to remove or in-
stall the bushings. Once the spring is removed,
the bushings can be replaced using an arbor
press and a suitable size socket and length of
pipe as bushing drivers.
