TRANSFER CASE
GENERAL SERVICE INFORMATION
This section covers transfer case removal, in-
stallation and lubrication procedures for the
Model 207 transfer case.
The procedures, specifications and special
tools needed to overhaul the Model 207 trans-
fer case are contained in the T.C. 207 Compo-
nent Service Manual.
Transfer Case Identification
A circular identification tag is attached to the
rear case of each Model 207 transfer case. The
tag (A) provides the transfer case model num-
ber, assembly number, serial number and low
range ratio.
The transfer case serial number also repre-
sents the date of build. For example, a serial
number of 2-9-86 would represent February 9,
1986.

The Model 207 transfer case is used for all en-
gine/transmission applications in Wrangler/YJ
models.
