w eld flange with a fla t bladed tool such as a tongue
d ep ressor, or shaped m ycarta blade (fig . 9).
Checking W indshield Opening
Due to the expanse and contour of the windshield it is
im p era tive in the event of a strain break that the wind­
shield opening be thoroughly checked b efo re in stalling
a replacem ent windshield. The replacem ent glass is used
as a tem plate.
1. Check fo r the follow ing conditions at the previou s
m arked point of fractu re.
a. Chipped edges on glass.
b. Ir r e g u la r itie s in body opening.

windshield opening.
3. Check flange area fo r sold er, w eld high spots, or
hardened spot-w eld sea le r.
4. Check
windshield glass to opening, by supporting
glass with six spacers contained in packet J - 22577.
CAUTIO N:
Do^_ not

Chipped edges on the glass can lead to
future breaks.
5. With the windshield supported and centered in its
opening,
check the relationship of the glass to the
