The adjuster system should be disassem bled whenever
brake shoes a re
relin ed and inspected fo r the gen eral
condition of a ll m oving p arts. It is advisable to use new
plunger sea ls and gaskets when rem ovin g and in stallin g
these parts.
Removal (Fig. 84 )
1. R em ove brake shoes and brake cham bers as detailed
under applicable p roced u res.
2. R em ove bolt and plunger guide gasket fro m housing.
3. R em ove spring and plunger guide.
4. U nscrew adjusting bolt fro m actuator.

5. Using a s c r e w d r iv e r , p ry plunger se a l out of spider
housing.
6. R em ove actuator and adjusting plunger.
Installation (Fig. 8 4 )
NOTE:
Make
sure
is in stalled at p ro p er end of spider so that brake
shoe ends a re mounted in p rop er position. A ls o
make certain that a ll p arts a re p ro p e rly lu b ri­
cated. A ll threads on a ll components should be
coated with lubricant to assure smooth, fr e e op-
