Installation

2. In stall anchor s c re w through bracket and spring into
anchor.

bolt through band lo w e r bracket and hole in support
and start nuts on bolt.
3. In stall new c le v is pin through operating cams and
link plate.

4. In sert threaded end o f adjusting bolt down between
operating cam s.

is low ered into place it must pass through band upper

Brake Drum
Removal
1. Rem ove
brake band and lining assem bly as p r e
viou sly directed.
2. R em ove nuts and lock w ashers fro m bolts attaching
p ro p e lle r shaft U -jo in t flange and brake drum to
tran sm ission output shaft flange.

Brake Shoe
Removal (Fig. 6 8 )
1. Rem ove two return springs and anchor pin link fro m
cam ends o f brake shoes. Spread ends o f brake shoes
fa r enough to p e rm it rem oval fro m support plate.
Rem ove shoes, then separate by rem ovin g adjusting
screw and adjusting sc re w spring.
2. Replace lining i f worn down close to r iv e t beads.

The drum and output shaft flange w ill be rem oved by
rem ovin g
the nut on the end o f the output shaft, then
pulling the assem bly fro m the spliner output shaft.
CAUTION:
Do not ham m er o r p ry drum during
rem oval.
4. Rem ove bolts and nuts fro m flange and drum a ssem
bly to separate drum and flange.
Installation
1. Wipe clean mating su rfaces of brake drum and out
put shaft flan ge.
Line up brake drum and flange,
in sta ll bolts and nuts.
2. Slide drum and flange assem bly o v e r splin es onto
output shaft.
3. On jobs with parking brake drum assem bly attached
to output shaft by a cen ter bolt, place lock washer
and
special s e rra te d fla t w asher on bolt.
