then through access opening at bottom of door, in­
s ta ll two attaching bolts.

Door Lock C ylinder Replacement
Removal
1. R em ove access panel at bottom of door.
2. Through
access panel opening, pull lock cylin der
retain er
fro m
beneath
grasping reta in er lip with p lie rs .
3. T ilt lock assem bly to p erm it cylin d er lug to d is­
engage fro m lock m echanism le v e r.
4. R em ove lock cylin d er and gasket fro m door.
Installation (Fig. 124)
1. W ith gasket in position on lock cylinder, in sert c y l­
inder into door to engage cylin d er lug ove r lock
m echanism le v e r.
2. W h ile holding cylin d er, in sert legs of retain er into
g ro o ves of lock cylin d er body.

Make sure legs of
retain er are fu lly engaged. It may be n ecessa ry to
d riv e reta in er into fin a l engagement.
3. In sert key and check operation.
4. Install access panel to door.
DOOR INSIDE HANDLE REPLACEMENT
I f rem ovin g door lock inside handle, the handle p o si­
tion should be m arked in relation to door panel to assure
that handle is installed la ter at the sam e operating angle.
Removal
1. In sert tool (J-7797) between handle flange and e s ­
cutcheon plate.

and escutcheon plate.
Installation
1. In sert lock sprin g in handle grooves.
2. P la ce the escutcheon plate on handle spindle.
3. If in stallin g door lock relea se handle, make sure
handle
is in position p reviou sly m arked on door
inner panel.
T o in sta ll eith er handle, fo r c e handle
with installed lock spring over spindle until lock
spring becom es fu lly engaged.

Removal
1. Rem ove the door inside lock knob which is threaded
on lock rod.
2. Rem ove the access panel fro m door inner panel as
p reviou sly outlined.
3. R aise window then rem ove the door inside handle as
p reviou sly outlined.
4. Rem ove three screw s which attach the rem ote con­
tr o l to door inner panel.
access opening, then disengage fasten er at p u ll-rod .
Separate rod and rem ove control fro m door.
5. Rem ove the lock cylin der assem bly fro m outer side
of door as p reviou sly outlined.
6„ A t re a r edge of door, rem ove two run channel r e ­
tainer screw s to p rovid e clearan ce fo r rem o va l of
lock mechanism.
7. A t r e a r edge of door, rem ove three sp ecial lockin g-
type screw s which attach lock mechanism to door
fra m e.
L o w e r the lock and attached two rods out
through access opening in door.
8. Separate rods fro m lock mechanism by disengaging
fasten ers.
Installation
Install lock mechanism with rods and rem ote control
in re v e r s e of the " R em oval" procedures.
NOTE:
Make
sure
locking-type
screw s which attach lock m echa­
nism to door fra m e.
Check
operation
of
door
mechanism
a fter installation as required, rem ote con­
tr o l unit may be shifted sligh tly on door inner panel to
obtain sa tisfa ctory lock operation.
