2. R em ove poppet screw fro m each side o f co v er and
ja r springs, b a lls, and reta in er out through poppet
holes.
3. Rem ove shift rods (1 and 6) from c o ver, stripping o ff
fork s (5 and 7) as shift rods a re rem oved. T ip c over
on one side and ja r in terlock out o f shift rod boss.
4. R em ove s h i f t r od oi l
required.
5. R em ove transm ission b reath er assem bly from cover.
Assembly
1. Mount co ve r (2) in v is e . Coat o il seal re c e s s e s with
sealing cem ent, and p re s s new shift rod o il seals into
rec e s s .
2. Insert 1st and 2nd shift rod (6) (longest rod) in bot­
tom hole o f c o v e r (2) being carefu l not to damage o il
seal.

3. M ove shift rod through support and install 1st and
2nd shift fo rk (5) on rod with o ffs et toward front as
rod is m oved into position.
4. Install clam p screw (4), m ove rod to neutral position,
and tighten clamp screw .

o v e rd riv e shift rod (1) (short rod) in top o f co ver.
6. Install d ire c t and o v e rd riv e shift fork (7) on rod with
o ffset toward front and m ove rod through rod support
boss.

8. M ove rod (1) to neutral position, tighten fork clamp
screw (4) fir m ly and retain with lo ck w ire (3).
