3. Cut out the leaking portion of the hose, making sure
that a ll o f the fa ile d portion is rem oved.
v e r y sm all portion of the hose was rem oved, it may
be p ossib le to sp lice the two ends together using a
special
hose connector and two hose clam ps.

of hose should be sp liced in using two connectors and
four hose clam ps.

connector.
N e v e r push the end o f the hose beyond
the locating bead o f the connector.

4. Evacuate, charge and check the system .

COMPRESSOR
Removal (Fig. 35 )
1. Purge the r e frig e ra n t fr o m the system .
2. Rem ove connector attaching bolt and connector. Seal
connector outlets.
3. D isconnect e le c tr ic a l lead to clutch actuating coil.
4. Loosen b race and p ivot bolts and detach belt.
5. Rem ove the nuts and bolts attaching the com p ressor
brackets to the mounting bracket.
6. B efo re beginning any com p resso r disassem bly, drain

Installation
1. If o il p revio u sly drained fro m the com p ressor upon
rem o val shows no evidence o f contamination, replace
a lik e amount o f fre s h r e frig e ra tio n o il into the com ­
p re s s o r b efore
reinstallation .

2. P osition com p ressor on the mounting bracket and
in stall a ll nuts, bolts and lock w ashers.
3. Install the connector assem bly to the co m p ressor
re a r head, using new "O " rings coated with clean
re frig e ra tio n o il.
4. Connect the e le c tr ic a l lead to the c o il and in stall
and adjust co m p ressor belt.
5. Evacuate and charge the system .
6. Leak test the system and check fo r p rop er operation.
Compressor Belt Tension Adjustm ent
Adjust the com p ressor belt to the sp ecification s shown
in the Tune-Up chart in the Engine Specification section
o f this manual.

Removal
1. Pu rge the system of re frig e ra n t.
2. Disconnect the re frig e ra n t lin es at the condenser and
cap them.
3. Rem ove the hood catch assem bly.

4. R em ove radiator mounting bolts and push top o f ra d i­
ator back enough to make low er condenser mounting
nuts a ccessib le by reaching down between radiator
and radiator support.
5. R em ove condenser attaching bolts and rem ove con­
denser (cap the condenser inlet and outlet if it is to
be reused).
Installation
1. L ow er the replacem ent condenser into position and
replace mounting bolts.
