GENERAL BODY CONSTRUCTION

The Truck body is designed to p rovide a strong, fu lly
welded unit which has a u n iversal application to as many
m odel types as possible; thus the cab used on the Pickup
is also used on h eavier units with the addition of variou s
com binations of front end sheet m etal, ro c k e r panel ex­
tensions, transm ission c o v e rs (flo o r p lates), etc.

BODY SEALING
Cab construction details showing location and appli­
cation of sealin g compound and undercoating are shown
in F igu res 5, 6 and 7. In s e rv ic in g com plete panels or
only a portion of a p articu lar section it must be com ­
p letely sealed to the panel with which it mates.
Locating Dust and W a te r Leaks
A quick method fo r locating many a ir and w ater leaks
at
windshield,
and joints is as follow s:
C lose a ll windows and vents, turn a ir conditioning or
heater b low er m otor to high position and outside a ir and
close doors.
Run w ater over suspected leak area in a
sm a ll con trollable stream
sure bubbles.
An alternate method fo r locating leaks is as follow s:
R em ove the follow in g trim fro m inside the cab. F lo o r
mats, dash and toe panel pad and kick pads.
Dust leaks w ill be evident when these pads and mats
are rem oved.
Leaks can be located som etim es by putting
a bright light under the cab o r body, while checking the
in te r io r of the cab o r body at joints and weld lines.
