WIPER M O TO R DISASSEMBLY
G ear Box
R e fe r to Figu re 20.
1. R em ove the two washer pump mounting screw s and
lift pump o ff washer.
2. R em ove w asher pump d riv e
24, 25). The cam is p ressed on the shaft but can be
wedged o ff by using two sc re w d r iv e r s between cam
and plate.
3. Clamp crank arm in a v is e and rem ove crank arm
retaining nut.
CAUTIO N:
F ailu re to clam p crank a r m may
resu lt in stripping of w iper g e a rs !
4. R em ove crank arm , seal cap, T r u -A r c retaining ring,
and end-play washers.
NOTE:
Seal
cap
should
packed with a w a te r-p ro o f type grea se b efore
reassem bly.
5. D r ill out g ea r box c o v e r retaining rive ts , rem ove
co v e r fro m g ea r train.
NOTE:
Screw s, nuts and lock w ashers fo r r e ­
assem bling co v e r to w ip er are contained in a
s e rv ic e re p a ir package.
6. R em ove output gear and shaft assem bly, then slide
interm ediate
ge a r
and pinion assem bly o ff shaft.
7. If n ecessary, rem ove term in al board and park switch
assem bly as follow s:
a. Unsolder m otor leads fro m term in als. Code m o­
tor leads.
b. D r ill out riv e ts secu rin g term in al board and park
switch ground strap to mounting plate.

NOTE:
Screw s, nuts and w ashers fo r attaching
a replacem ent term in al board-park switch a s ­
sem bly a re included with the replacem ent a s ­
sem bly.

1. F ollow Steps
1 through 7b under gea r box d is a s ­
sem bly.
2. Rem ove m otor through bolts, tap m otor fram e ligh tly,
and rem ove m otor fro m mounting plate.
3. Rem ove brush spring tension (fig. 20), slide arm ature
and end plate fro m
from arm ature.
NOTE:
Thrust plug located between arm ature
shaft and end plate.
4. Rem ove end play adjusting w ashers fro m arm ature,
noting arrangem ent fo r p ro p er reinstallation.
WIPER M O TO R INSPECTION
Check and inspect a ll parts fo r se rv ic e a b ility , replace
as n ecessary. A ll parts can be replaced individually e x ­
cept m otor fram e and field , which is s e rv ic e d as an a s ­
sem bly.
