FUEL TANK AND EXHAUST SYSTEMS 8-6
CANISTER
The can ister is m'ounted in the fo rw a rd section of the
engine com partm ent, except on P m odels where it mounts
on the right fra m e r a il adjacent to the battery.
Canister and /o r Canister Filter (Figs. 1 0 -1 1 )
Removal
1. Note position o f hoses on canister.
2. Rem ove hoses.
3. Loosen mounting screw and rem ove can ister.
4. R em ove filt e r fro m bottom o f canister.
Installation
1. Install new filte r .
2. Install can ister and tighten mounting screw .
3. Reconnect hoses as in Step #2 above.

Removal
1. R aise veh icle on hoist (if n ecessary).

in which a ll m u ffle r and tailpipe connecting points are
welded.

G asoline tank vent lines on cab m odels route o v e r the
re a r window. On Suburban, P m odels and pickup m odels
the vent lines in sta ll in the r e a r side panel.
2. Rem ove clam p securing pipe.
3. Rem ove hose clam ps and rem o ve pipe.
Installation
1. Install pipe to hose and install hose clam ps.
Check connections to assure that hose and clamp
seal connection.
NOTE:
If replacing hose, use only replacem ent
hose m arked E V A P '.
2. Install clam p retaining pipe.
3. L o w e r v eh icle and rem ove fro m hoist.
NOTE:
A ll 10-20-30 S e ries exhaust have been
alum inized.
A lw ays use the c o rre c t re p la c e ­
ment parts when s e rv ic in g these system s.
When installing a new exhaust pipe, m u ffler o r tailpipe,
on any model, care should be taken to have the c o rre c t
alignment and relationship of the components to each
other. P a rticu la r ca re should be given to the installation
of the exhaust pipe and c r o s s o v e r pipe assem bly on V-8
