insulation. Check mounting bolts fo r tightness. Check
the d riv e belt fo r alignm ent, p rop er tension and w ear.
Because o f the higher in ertia and load capacity o f the
ro to r used in A .C . g en erators, P R O P E R B E L T TENSION
is m ore c ritic a l than on D.C. gen erators.
Since the D elcotron and its companion regu lator a re
designed fo r use on negative p ola rity system s only, the
follow in g precautions must
o b serve these precautions may resu lt in seriou s damage
to the charging system .

gauge, red w ire . School bus m odels have an additional
link (16 gauge, red w ire ) located in the battery feed
c irc u itry between the engine generator and forw ard lamp
harness connector and molded splice junction.
1. When installing a battery, alw ays make absolutely
sure the ground p ola rity o f the battery, gen erator
and regu lator is the same.
2. When connecting a booster battery,
to connect the c o rr e c t battery term in a ls together.
3. When connecting a ch arger to the battery, connect
the c o rre c t ch arger leads to the battery term in als.
4. N ever operate the gen erator on an uncontrolled open
circu it. Make absolutely certain a ll connections in
the circu it a re secure.
5. Do not short a c ro s s or ground any o f the term in als
on the gen erator or regu lator.
