The use of a m ixture of liquid soap
and w ater or som e other type rubber lubricant
applied to the rubber w ill make the installation
of this channel as w e ll as the other f il l e r s e c ­
tions much e a s ie r to install.
3. Set lo w er edge of sliding glass (front section) in run
channel with upper edge of glass back of joint in
w eath erstrip
rubber.

6. Use rubber m allet to tap glass back to the w eather­

8. Install heavy rubber wedge between run channel and
inside edge of w eatherstrip fro m fron t edge of sta­
tionary glass at top around to front edge at bottom.
The round edge enters the rubber and the ribbed side
goes next to the run channel.
9. Install center w eath erstrip on front edge of station­
ary glass with plush side next to slid ing glass. A p­
ply 3-M W ea th erstrip Adhesive, o r its equivalent, to
the inside of this channel b efore installing. Pushing
each end o f w eath erstrip on b efo re pushing up the
center w ill elim inate the ends catching in the rubber
and give it a crow ding effect at top and bottom fo r
tigh ter seal.
10. Feed one end of w eatherstrip f i l l e r into handle of
special T o o l J-2189 and out through the end which
spreads the w eath erstrip channel.
11. Starting at bottom center, in sert the end o f the tool
and end of f ille r in channel, tapered part of the fille r
toward the glass.
12. W hile holding the tool fir m ly , with spreading end in
channel, fo llo w around the channel spreading it open
and feedin g the f ille r

13. The run channel at fron t of window should be opened
up to allow fo r the ex tra thickness of the glass thumb
pull. Use a block of wood sligh tly w id er than chan­
nel and with one edge rounded smooth so as not to
damage channel d rive it in spreading the a rea around
the thumb pull until glass enters channel with rea ­
sonable ease.
