An exten d ed -life u n iversal joint, which does not requ ire
p erio d ic inspection and lubrication, has been incorporated
in s e v e ra l applications on the 10 and 20 s e r ie s ve h icles.
This exten d ed -life u n iversal joint is identified by the
absence of the lubrication fitting, which is presen t on all
trunnions
not equipped with the exten ded -life feature.

A lubrication fitting is also provided on each sliding
sleeve to lu bricate the splines. A plug is staked into the
yoke end of sleeve to retain lubricant and a sm all hole is
d r ille d in the end of this plug to r e lie v e trapped a ir. The
opposite end of the sleeve is sealed by means o f a cork
packing in a retain er which screw s on the end of the
s lee v e .
