M AN U A LLY ADJUSTED BRAKES (W A G N E R )

NOTE:

Cowl m odels a re equipped with W agner, two-
cylin d er, manually adjusted brakes, fron t and
re a r.
The W agner manually adjusted brakes a re o f two d if­
fe re n t types:
the Type " F "
has two iden tical brake shoes mounted on the backing
plate so that th eir toes
sin gle-en d wheel cylin d ers
cylin d er is mounted between the toe of one shoe, and the
h eel of the other.
The tw o -w h eel cylin d er pistons apply
an equal amount of fo r c e to the toe of each shoe. Each
cylin d er casting is shaped to p ro vid e an anchor block fo r
the brake shoe heel.
The " F R -3 "
brake is used on all C h evrolet 17,000#
and 30,000# tandem equipped Eaton R ear A x le s .
brake is
equipped with tw o-double-end wheel cylin d ers
which apply hydraulic p ressu re to both the toe and heel of
two iden tical s e lf-c e n te rin g shoes. The shoes anchor at
