Initial Adjustment
If a new in stallation has just been made as d escribed
above, start engine and build up requ ired amount of a ir

ation of the system at a ll tim es.
Instructions c overin g the rem oval and s e r v ic e of stan­
dard chambers follow s (F ig . 87).
Removal and Disassembly
1. Disconnect a ir lines fro m chambers.
2. Using a punch, d riv e lock washer protrusions fro m
notches in spanner nut and spider housing.
3. Using a spanner wrench or a punch and ham m er,
loosen spanner nut which secu res a ir cham ber to
brake spider housing.
4. Rem ove a ir cham ber assem bly fro m brake spider
housing.
5. R em ove bolt and nut which secure clam ping ring.
6. Scribe a m ark a cro ss the p ressu re housing and the
n on-pressu re housing to assure p ro p er reassem bly.
7. Rem ove
diaphragm,
housings.
Cleaning and Inspection
1. Clean a ll m etal parts thoroughly, using a suitable
cleaning fluid.
Blow dry with a ir o r wipe dry with
cloth. (Do not use solvent on diaphragm .)
2. Examine diaphragm and rep la ce with new part i f any
signs of w ear o r deteriora tion are evident.
3. Inspect p ressu re housing fo r scratches, sco res , or
ex ce s s iv e w ear.
Exam ine a ll parts fo r obstructions
and rem ove any fo re ig n m atter.
4. Exam ine diaphragm plate rod boot fo r d eteriora tion
or
cracks.
If
deterio ra tio n
evident,
rep la ce.
In
n ecessa ry to rem o ve the plastic guide fro m the end
of the rod. If the guide is damaged or worn, it too
should be replaced. Apply a lib e ra l amount o f rubber
cem ent to boot flange and mating su rface on non­
pressu re housing.
