Torque nut 250 lb. ft. and in s e rt new c o tter pin.

5. On 5000#-7000# m odels in sta ll kingpin dust caps with
new gaskets. On 9000#-11,000# m odels install in v e r­
ted expansion plug in lo w e r knuckle b ore and seat r e ­
taining ring. Install upper dust cap with new gasket.
6. P lace brake backing plate into position on steerin g
knuckle and in stall two upper locking plate to s te e r ­
ing knuckle retaining b olts. R a ise steerin g and tie
rod arm into position on back of steerin g knuckle and
in stall two lo w e r backing p la te -to -s te e rin g knuckle
retaining bolts and nuts.
NOTE:
T h is backing plate to s teerin g knuckle
fasten er is an im portant attaching p art in that it
could a ffe c t the p erform an ce of v ita l components
and system s, and/or could resu lt in m ajor r e ­
p a ir expense. It must be rep laced with one o f the
sam e p art number o r with an equivalent p art if
replacem en t becom es n ecessa ry . Do not use a
