The tandem re a r axle installation (fig . 87) consists o f
a rea rw ard re a r axle (Eaton M odels 30R and 34R) and a
forw ard re a r axle (Eaton M odels 30D and 34D) which
c a r r ie s a single speed p ow er d ivid er with an in ter-a x le
d ifferen tial.
An a ir o r vacuum operated shift mechanism
is used to lock out the in te r-a x le d ifferen tia l to provide
positive d rive to both axles when required.
