11. Start engine and test dw ell and ignition tim ing.
Eight Cylinder Engine Distributor
1. The contact point set is replaced as one com plete
assem bly and only dw ell angle req u ires adjustment
a fte r replacem ent.
B reak er le v e r spring tension and
point alignm ent are fa cto ry set.
2„ R em ove the distribu tor cap by placing a screw d r iv e r
in the slot head o f the latch, p re s s down and turn 1/4
turn in eith er direction .
3. Rem ove the two attaching screw s which hold the base
of the contact set assem bly in place.
4. Rem ove the p rim a ry and condenser leads fro m their
nylon insulated connection (fig. 4i) in contact set.
5. R e v e rs e Steps 2, 3 and 4 to install new contact set.
CA UTIO N:
Install the p rim a ry and condenser
leads as shown in F igu re 4i. Im proper in sta lla ­
tion w ill cause lead in terferen ce between the
cap, weight base and brea k er advance plate.

desired ) the cam lu b ricator wick (fig . 5i) should be
changed. Using long nosed p lie r s squeeze assem bly
together at base and lift out. Rem ove a ll old lu b ri­
cant from
cam
surface.
NOTE:
End o f cam lubricant wick should be
adjusted to just touch cam lobes. O ver lu b ri­
cation o f cam resu ltin g in grea se on contact
points can be caused by cam lubrication wick
b earing too hard against cam surface. A c o r ­
re ctly adjusted cam lu bricator wick w ill p rovid e
adequate lubrication fo r cam. Do not apply ad­
ditional g rea se to cam su rface.
7. Start
engine
and
check
tim ing.
