ENGINE 6-26
• R em ove bolts retaining surge tank to island sup­
port and rem ove surge tank.
• Disconnect th rottle
taining brackets.
• Rem ove le ft and righ t island supports.
• Disconnect cab safety lock at re a r cab support.
4. D isconnect w ire s at:
• S tarter Solenoid
• D elcotron
• Tem p eratu re Switch
• O il P re s s u re Switch
• C oil
5. Disconnect:
• A c c e le r a to r linkage at m anifold bellcrank
• Choke cable at carb u retor.
• Fuel line (fro m tank) at fuel pump.
• H eater hoses at engine connection.
• O il p ressu re gauge line (if so equipped).
• Vacuum o r a ir lin e s
• P o w er steerin g lin es at pump end (if so equipped).
• Ground straps at engine.
• Exhaust pipe at m anifold.
NOTE: Hang exhaust pipe at fram e with w ire .
6. R em ove fan and pulley as outlined in Section 6K.
7. R em ove clutch c ro s s -s h a ft or disconnect clutch slave
cylin d er (if so equipped).
8. P e r fo r m the follow in g operations:
ON A L L SERIES:
• R em ove the ro c k e r arm c o v e rs as outlined.
• Attach liftin g adapter
bolt location.
• Attach liftin g device and take engine weight o ff
engine mounts.
ON A L L SERIES E X C E P T CE 10-20-30:
• Support tran sm ission and disconnect from engine.
• Disconnect speedom eter
• D isconnect shift linkage at transm ission.
• Disconnect clutch linkage (as requ ired ).
• Rem ove engine mount bolts.
9. Rem ove engine fro m v e h icle as follow s:
CA U TIO N : Check often during engine rem oval
to be sure all n ecessary disconnects have been
made.
ON CE 10-20-30 SERIES:
• On v eh icles with automatic o r four speed tra n s­
m ission s, rem ove re a r mount crossm em b er.
• R aise engine and transm ission assem bly and pull
forw ard until rem oved.
ON CE 40-50-60, KE
SERIES:
• R aise engine and pull forw ard until disconnected
fro m transm ission.
• Continue to ra is e
veh icle.
ON T E 50 and 60 SERIES:
• R aise engine and pull forw ard until disconnected
fro m transm ission.
• Continue to ra is e engine until high enough to com e
out eith er side.

10. If engine is to be mounted in an engine stand p e rfo rm
the follow ing:
ON CE 10-20-30 SERIES:
• R em ove synchrom esh tran sm ission and clutch (if
so equipped).
a. Rem ove clutch housing r e a r c o v e r bolts.
b. R em ove bolts attaching the clutch housing to
engine block then rem ove tran sm ission and
clutch housing as a unit.
NOTE: Support the transm ission as the last
mounting bolt is rem oved and as it is being
pulled away from the engine, to preven t damage
to clutch disc.
c. R em ove starter and clutch housing re a r co ver.
d. Loosen clutch mounting bolts a turn at a tim e
(to prevent distortion o f clutch co v e r) until the
spring p ressu re is released . R em ove a ll bolts,
clutch disc and p ressu re plate assem bly.
• Rem ove automatic transm ission (if so equipped).
a. L o w er engine, secured by the hoist, and support
engine on blocks.
b. R em ove sta rter and co n verter housing under
pan.
c. R em ove fly w h e e l-to -c o n v e rte r attaching bolts.
d. Support transm ission on blocks.
e. Disconnect throttle linkage and vacuum modu­
la to r line.
f . R em ove tran sm ission -to-en gin e mounting bolts.
g. With the hoist attached, rem o ve blocks from the
engine only and slow ly guide the engine from
the transm ission.
ON A L L SERIES E X C E P T CE 10-20-30:
• Rem ove clutch housing.
• Loosen clutch mounting bolts a turn at a tim e (to
prevent distortion of clutch co v e r) until the spring
p ressu re is relea sed .

11. Mount engine in engine stand and rem o ve liftin g
d evice and liftin g adapter.
Installation
1. If engine was mounted in an engine stand, attach
liftin g adapter to engine then using liftin g device,
rem ove engine from stand and p e rfo rm the follow ing:
ON CE 10-20-30:
• Install synchrom esh transm ission and clutch (if so
equipped).
a. Install the clutch assem bly on flyw heel as out­
lined in Section 7.
b. Install clutch housing re a r c o v e r and sta rter.
c. Install the tran sm ission and clutch housing as
outlined in Section 7.
d. Install clutch housing re a r c o v e r bolts and
torque to specification s.
• Install automatic transm ission
a. P osition engine adjacent to the transm ission
and align the
b. B olt transm ission to engine then ra ise engine
and transm ission assem bly and install flyw heel
to con verter bolts.
c. Install con verter housing underpan and sta rter.
d. Connect throttle linkage and vacuum modulator
line.
