10. R em ove tool and strik e additional blow s p r o g r e s ­
s iv e ly tow ard other cutaway section until en tire toe
of side rin g has passed o v e r the rim gutter.
11. W h ile the side ring is being applied to the wheel rim ,
it is tight and req u ires fo r c e o r ham m er blows to
com plete the application. When the side rin g is co m ­
p le tely installed on the rim , it is no lo n ger tight and
can be dep ressed o r w ill y ie ld to a light ham m er
blow .
Precaution should be taken to see that the side
rin g is not binding on the rim and can be fr e e ly de­
p ressed (fig . 19) b efo re inflating the t ir e .
Installing Synthetic Tubes
1. B e fo re installin g tube in t ir e , clean inside of casing
thoroughly.
2. In sert

3. Inspect rim fo r rust scale and bent fla n g e s — clean
rust sca le and straighten flan ges w here n ecessa ry.
4. Using a brush o r cloth swab, apply a solution of
neutral vegetable o il soap to the inside and outside of
t ir e beads and also to the rim side of the tube.

5. When mounting t ir e and tube on a drop cen ter rim ,
fo llo w the standard p roced u re.

C A U TIO N :
When tube and flap a re not p ro p erly

T h e mounting and demounting of tubeless truck t ir e s
w ill present no p roblem when a rubber lubricant, such as
Ru-G lyde o r equivalent is applied to t ir e beads and rim
fla n ges.

ing at the t ir e sealin g area and thus preven ts t ir e s fro m
adhering to the wheel.
Demounting and M ounting
A ll tubeless tir e s used on C h evrolet trucks with the
exception of the 7.75-15 and 6.50-16 s iz e s should be d e ­
mounted and mounted as d escrib ed in this section.
