Element Replacement
1. Rem ove a ir clean er c o v e r.
2. Rem ove elem ent and on two elem ent a ir clean ers
rem ove polyurethane band from paper elem ent.
3. R em ove bottom section of a ir clean er and rem ove
and discard a ir clea n er gasket.
4. Clean bottom section of a ir clean er and a ir cleaner
co v e r thoroughly.
NOTE:
Check
bottom
seal fo r tea rs o r cracks.
5. In stall bottom section o f a ir clean er with a new a ir
clean er gasket.
6. Install new paper elem ent on bottom section o f a ir
clean er
with
eith er end up.

7. Install a ir clean er c o v e r.
Inspecting Paper Element
1. Rem ove a ir clean er elem ent as p reviou sly outlined.
2. Inspect
top
and bottom sea ls fo r deform ation o r
cracking.
These

uniform .
3. Inspect elem ent fo r punctures o r splits by looking
through the elem ent towards a light source.
4. Internal portions o f a ir clean er cover and bottom
should be clean.
If washed with solvent su rfaces
should be dried thoroughly.
5. Install a ir clean er elem ent as p reviou sly outlined.
Cleaning Polyurethane Band
1. R em ove a ir clean er elem ent and rem ove p olyu re­
thane band fro m paper elem ent.

2. Inspect the polyurethane band fo r tears and replace if
n ecessary.
If not torn, wash polyurethane band in
kerosene o r m ineral sp irits ; then squeeze out excess
solvent (fig . 5A).
NOTE:
N e v e r use a hot d e g re a s e r o r any s o l­
vent containing acetone o r s im ila r solvent.
3. Dip elem ent into light engine o il and squeeze out e x ­
cess oil.
NOTE:
N e v e r shake, swing o r w ring the e le ­
ment to rem ove excess o il o r solvent as this
