13. Hook springs in shoes using T o ol J-8049 by installin g
the p rim a ry
sprin g fro m the shoe o v e r the anchor
pin and then spring fro m secondary shoe o v e r the
w ire link end.
14. P r y shoes away fr o m the backing plate and lubricate
shoe contact su rfa ces with a thin coating o f brake
lube.

16. F o llow the above procedu re fo r a ll brakes.
17. Adjust the s e rv ic e brakes as outlined below , then
adjust the parking brake.

Although the brakes a re s e lf adjusting a p relim in a ry o r
in itia l adjustment may be n ecessary a fter the brakes have
been relin ed o r replaced, o r whenever the length o f the
adjusting screw has been changed.

1. With brake drum off, disengage the actuator fro m the
star wheel and rotate the star wheel by spinning o r
turning with a sm all screw d r iv e r .
