ENGINE FUEL 6M -6
Installation
1. Install solenoid in b racket so that it does not con­
tact throttle le v e r .
2. Set the carb u retor in the closed throttle position
with the choke off.
3. Start engine and set id le to specification s (r e fe r to
tune-up decal) using the ca rb u retor's low id le speed
s crew .
4. With solenoid en e rg ize d and solenoid plunger screw
out two turns fro m being fu lly bottomed in plunger,
slide
solenoid into b racket so that the plunger just
sligh tly contacts the carbu retor le v e r .
bracket strap to secu re the solenoid in place.
5. Back out ca rb u retor low idle speed s crew approxi­
m ately one turn (c o u n ter-clock w ise).

The M odel 2G C arbu retor G overnor (fig . 2G) provided
with 350 V -8 engines is a m echanically driven vacuum
actuated mechanism set to govern engine speed at 4000
rpm maximum under fu ll load conditions. With this lim it,
fu ll advantage o f engine h orsepow er is allow ed without
danger of ex cessive w ear due to overspeeding. This 4000
rpm lim it establishes an excellen t pattern fo r shift con­
tr o l fo r automatic type transm issions.
The govern or is com prised o f two basic units; the cen­
trifu ga l control va lve housed in the distributor (See En­
gine
D istributors
in
Section
actuator which is mounted on the carburetor throttle body
(fig . 2G). These two components are inter-connected by
tubing.
An engine overspeed warning device is incorporated
into the govern or as shown in F igu re 2G. A description
o f the oversp eed warning system w ill be found in Sec­
tion 6Y o f this manual.
Operation
The function o f the 2G govern or is to lim it engine speed
and yet allow a w ider throttle opening when p ow er is r e ­
quired.
