Inspection for Leaks
1. W ith wheel assem bly rem oved fro m veh icle, inflate
the t ir e to recom m ended operating p ressu re.
2. Check fo r leaks at rim bead by placing wheel and t ir e
horizontal and allow ing w ater to stand in gro ove b e ­
tween rim and tir e .
Check fo r la rg e leaks by lo w e r ­
ing assem bly into w ater tank o r running w ater o v e r
t ir e .
Demounting (all except 7 .7 5 -1 5 and 6 .5 0 -1 6 tires)
1. R em ove va lv e co re to com p letely d eflate tir e .
t ir e lying fla t on flo o r , loosen beads fro m rim seats
by walking around on t ir e with heels at points close
to rim .
W ith wide side o f rim down, apply t ir e lu ­
bricant to top bead.
spoon ends of two t ir e iron s about 10" apart.

tow ard cen ter of rim (fig . 20).
2. Hold one iron in position with foot and pull second
iron tow ard center of rim .
o ff rim , taking additional b ites if n ecessary (fig . 21).
3. Stand assem bly in v e rtic a l position.

about a 45 d egree angle (fig . 22).
4. Turn iron so that it is perpendicular to rim .

A ll tubeless tir e s except the 7.75-15 and 6.50-16 s ize s
w ill be mounted as fo llow s:
1. Inspect
rim
to
insure bead seats a re clean and
smooth.
Then place rim
down and lu bricate fir s t bead of t ir e and upper bead
seat of rim (fig . 24).
2. Push fir s t bead into w e ll of rim and onto rim as fa r
as p o ssib le.
Using straight end of t ir e iron and with
stop restin g on rim flange, work rem aining section of
fir s t bead o v e r rim (fig. 25).
3. Hold second bead in w ell by standing on t ir e .
n ecessary, push section of bead into rim w ell and
anchor with v is e -g r ip p lie r s by pinching p lie r s on
rim fla n ge.
Using spoon end of t ir e iron with stop
tow ard rim , w ork p r o g re s s iv e ly around bead using
WHEELS AND TIRES 10-15
