4. In stall Tool J-8107, F igu re 84, o v e r piston bore and
clamp onto flange, in stall a 9/16" socket o v e r s e lf­
locking nut and tighten down on tool until tension is
re lie v e d on c le v is pin.
5. U nscrew T o o l J-8107 until com p ression spring ten­
sion is re lie v e d and rem ove T ool (fig . 85).
6. Push
piston,
push
through top of cylin d er (fig . 86).
7. R em ove actuating le v e r fro m housing.
Inspection
1. Inspect shift fo rk seal fo r good condition and tight fit
on shift fork. Check shift fo rk seal spring fo r d is ­
tortion and tension.
2. Inspect housing fo r
worn o r grooved condition. Check piston stop cushion
fo r worn o r cracked condition.
3. Inspect piston fo r a worn o r grooved condition. Check
fe lt w ipers fo r distortion . F e lt w ipers are o il soaked

Check " O " rings fo r worn condition.
4. Inspect com pression spring fo r distortion, tension
and other visual d efects.

5. Inspect bearin g surface on actuating arm fo r w ear.
6. Inspect
bushings in both the housing and housing
c o v e r fo r w ear.
