dowel holes can be aligned in th eir orig in a l positions
on assem bly.

4. R em ove flyw h eel retaining bolts and d riv e crankshaft
dow els out o f flyw h eel and crankshaft. Rotate crank­
shaft as n ecessa ry so dow els c le a r cylin d er block.
5„ R em ove flyw h eel and d isca rd used dowel pins.
Installation
( A l l Except 2 9 2 cu. in. Engines)
1. Clean the mating su rfaces o f flyw h eel and crankshaft
to make certain there a re no b u rrs.
2. Install flyw h eel on crankshaft and position to align
dowel
hole
o f
crankshaft
(fig . 19L).
3. Install
flyw h eel
retaining
sp ecification s.

1. Clean the mating su rfa ces o f flyw h eel and crankshaft
to make certain there a re no bu rrs.
2. Install flyw h eel on crankshaft and position to align
dowel holes o f crankshaft flange and flyw heel.
3. Install
flyw h eel
retaining
sp ecification s.
NOTE:
The in terferen ce fit dowel pins used on
292 cu. in. engines must be rep la ced with an
o v e r s iz e dowel pin when installing the flyw h eel.
4. When in stalling the o rig in a l flyw h eel, ream the dowel

T o o l J-22808-2 and then finish ream ing them with
T o o l J-22808-1 (fig . 20L).

dowel pins flush with flyw h eel r e ­
taining bolt su rface.
6. Install

to sp ecification s.
Install o il pan with new gaskets
and
seals.
Torqu e
specification s.
Engine Mounts
Engine mounts (fig . 21L) a re the non-adjustable type
and
seldom
req u ire
s e r v ic e .
mounts should be rep la ced im m ediately, because o f the
added
strain
placed
on
components.
Front M ount Replacement
1. Rem ove fra m e b racket to mount bolt.
2. R aise engine enough to c le a r mount.
3. R em ove mount and install new mount.
4. Install new mount and torque bolts to specification s.
5. L o w er engine then install fram e b racket to mount
bolt and torque to sp ecification s.
Rear M ount Replacement
1. R aise and support veh icle.
2. Bend mount bolt french lock tabs away fro m bolt
head, then rem o ve
mount bolts, lo w er mount and
spacer.
3. R aise engine enough to c le a r upper mount assem bly
and rem ove upper mount fro m fra m e m em ber.
NOTE:
On m odels using a p ro p e lle r shaft brake
o f any type, it is n ecessary to rem ove screw s
fro m tran sm ission hole c o v e r to allow the engine
