The d irection al signal switch is a self-con tained unit
which in corp ora tes the hazard warning switch and the
lane changing signal.
The switch is one com plete p lastic
assem bly and is s e rv ic e d as a unit except fo r the sprin g
detent, yoke assem bly and cancelling springs.
The hazard warning circ u it is activated by a push-pull
switch which is located on the righ t side o f the mast
jacket, opposite the direction al sign al le v e r . The switch
knob must be pulled to cancel circu it.
The lane changing c ircu it is activated by holding the
d irectio n al signal le v e r in the fir s t detent position; there
is
no
lo ck -in
o r
cancelling
On T ilt Cab m odels the hazard warning switch and the
lane changing signal are not incorporated in the d ir e c ­
tional signal switch, but there is a separate hazard w arn ­
ing switch on the instrument panel.
DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL SWITCH REPLACEMENT
(Fig. 16) -A ll But Tilt M odels
1. Disconnect b attery ground cable.
2. Rem ove steerin g wheel assem b ly (R e fe r to Steering,
Section 9), preload spring and cancelling cam.
3. R em ove shift le v e r
r o ll pin and shift le v e r ( i f ap­
plicab le).
4. Rem ove d irection al signal le v e r retaining screw and
le v e r.
5. Push in hazard warning knob.

H azard switch knob must be pushed in
to
prevent
damage
fro m switch c o v e r.

6. Disconnect switch w irin g fro m
m ultiple connector under instrum ent panel.
7. Rem ove mast jacket upper bracket.
8. Rem ove switch w irin g co v e r fro m column.
9. Rem ove switch mounting sc rew s and rem ove switch,
bearing housing, switch c o v e r and shift housing fro m
column.
10. To in stall, re v e rs e rem ova l procedu re.
Tilt Cab M odels (Fig. 17)
1. Rem ove steerin g wheel (R e fe r to Section 9, Steerin g).
2. D isconnect signal w irin g at chassis harness, discon ­
nect d irection a l signal w irin g leads fro m m ultiple
connector.
