8. In sta ll the side c o v e r bolts and rem ove the tape
fro m the pitman shaft splines.
9. P e r fo r m steerin g g e a r adjustment and then install
the pitman arm . Torque the nut o r clam ping bolt to
sp ecification s.
NOTE: If a clamp type pitm an arm is used,
spread the pitman arm just enough, with a wedge,
to slip the arm onto the pitman shaft.

NOTE: The pitman arm to pitman shaft fa s ­

part if replacem ent b ecom es n ecessary.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Column Shift M odels

the steerin g gear.
