its fit on the end of the shaft. It should be absolutely
fre e without any roughness.
7. Inspect the condition of the distributor points. D irty
points should be cleaned and badly pitted points
should be replaced. (See D istrib u tor Contact Poin ts.)
8. T e s t the condenser fo r
farad capacity (.18 to .23) and leakage o r breakdown,
follow in g the instructions given by the manufacturer
o f the test equipment used.
9. Inspect the distributor cap and spark plug w ire s for
damage and replace if n ecessary.
ASSEMBLY
Four and Six Cylinder Engine

1. Replace cam assem bly to mainshaft.
NOTE: Lu bricate top end o f shaft with D elco
cam and ball bearing grea s e or equivalent p rio r
to replacing.
2. Install govern or w eights on th eir p ivot pins, replace

5. Install brea k er plate assem bly in the distribu tor body
and attach retaining screw s.
6. Attach condenser and contact point set in p rop er
location with appropriate attaching screw s.
NOTE: Contact point
matching hole in b rea k er plate. Connect p rim a ry
and condenser leads
disconnect term in al.
7. Attach vacuum control
housing.
8. Check and adjust contact point opening and alignm ent.
(See setting and alignm ent of points.)
9. Check break er le v e r spring tension which should be
19-23 ounces. (See contact point replacem en t.)
