Shackle Replacement C K 1 0 -2 0 , C P 2 0 -3 0 )
1. R aise veh icle on hoist. P la ce adjustable liftin g de­
v ice under axle.
2. Rem ove load fro m spring by jacking fram e.
3. Loosen sp rin g-to-sh ack le retaining bolt, but do not
rem ove.
4. R em ove
sh a ck le-to -fra m e bracket retaining b o lt--
then rem ove
shackle bolt from spring eye (fig. 9).
5. Position shackle to spring eye and lo o s e ly install r e ­
taining b o lt--d o not torque retaining bolt at this tim e.
6. P o sition shackle to fram e bracket and install reta in ­
ing bolt.
7. R est veh icle weight on suspension components and
torque
both
s h a c k l e
specification s.
8. L o w er veh icle and rem ove from hoist.
Bushing Replacement (Series K, C -P30, 10 and 2 0 )
NOTE:
Both front and re a r bushings on the K
s e rie s a re the sam e. B efo re attem pting to r e ­
place the re a r bushing on the K s e rie s , rem ove
the spring fro m
the veh icle
1. R aise veh icle on hoist. Support axle, re lie v e tension
in springs.
2. R em ove nut, w asher and bolt from front bushing and
hanger.
Continue to ra is e veh icle until access to
spring front eye is obtained.
3. In sert T o o l J-21058-15 with J-22620-2 through eye of
bushing. Center T o o l J-21058-6 with J-21058-7 over
threaded
end
and
screw
tightening nut J-21058-8 withdraw bushing from eye
(fig . 10).
4. P la c e T ool J-21058-15 with J-22620-1 through bush­
ing and eye o f spring. Center T o o l J-21058-6 and
J-21058-7 and screw T o o l J-21058-8 on threaded end
o f T o o l J-21058-15.

NOTE:
Outer shell o f bushing must be flush
with spring eye to ensure p ro p er alignm ent of
spring with spring hanger.
5. Disassemble and remove bushing installation tools.

6. L o w er veh icle to align spring eye and hanger. R e ­
place bolt through hanger and bushing. Install washer
and nut on bolt. Tighten nut to specifications.
7. L ow er veh icle and rem ove from hoist.
Bushing Replacement (Series 4 0 , 5 0 and 6 0 )
1. Lock parking brake and jack up fram e so that hooked
spring le a f touches rebound stop pin.
2. R elieve
radius le a f tension on pivot bolt by com ­
pressin g le a f with a
3. R em ove bolt from spring eye and re le a s e
to
allow
sufficient a ccess to spring eye bushing.
4. Replace
bushing,
a. Assem ble J-21058-2 and J-21058-15 so that guide
pin end o f r e m o v e r is against hex end o f bolt --
lubricate threads o f tool.

NOTE:
Use J-21058-2 to rem ove bushing from
3 inch spring; use J-21058-5 to rem ove bushing
from 2-1/2 inch spring.
b. Insert tool in bushing and install J-21058-6, -7,
thrust bearing, washer and J-21058-8-8 in that
ord er as shown in F igu re 12.
c. Hold J-21058-15 fro m turning and turn J-21058-8
to draw bushing from spring eye.
NOTE:
Use a b rea k er bar as shown in Figu re
12 to start bushing rem oval.
